I really enjoyed the series--really top notch fantasy genre story. I would have given it 5 stars, except that it needed an additional edit. Aside from there being grammatical errors left and right that should've been caught be someone with a technical eye, there were also a few story gaps. The story felt rushed here and there (although the huge climax was fantastic and really delivered)--and could've used more explanations on character motivations and world history. Really--book 3 should have been two books to cover the ground it needed to and explain everything thoroughly. The ebb and flow was great--but story beats needed further explanation. I don't know how you can go three books building up the villain of the Raven, only to omit the moment where the villain actually dies and how it happened exactly. There is too much to be inferred or guessed at during moments of action. A really great editor would've helped not only in the technical errors, but also in the story gaps.

That being said, Hahn has weaved fantastic characters with great arcs. Everything is wrapped up neatly--leaving few unanswered questions. The world she has created would lend itself amazingly to a film adaptation. Bravo. I look forward to reading other Chanda Hahn books.

The Silver Siren The Iron Butterfly Volume 3 Chanda Hahn 9780996104807 Books Reviews

HOWEVER it was worth the wait!!!

Ermergurd! so i have been putting off reading this book simply because i was scared. scared that my expectations were too high. scared that i wouldn't like the ending. scared that i just didn't want the book to end.

well. if my future self could have smacked be across the head, i think i'd understand the impatience because book was more than i could hope for. Granted it was a two year wait for this ending to happen but like Everyone (seriously i need to meet this person) says "good things come to those who wait". i had to re-read the other two (although i still remembered them quite well) just so that everything felt fresh.

for the dubious and cautious, jump in with both feet. if you are fans of the iron butterfly series you will be very appreciative on how everything wraps up nicely, with a big bow an' everything. i don't want to spoil the book but i seriously hope that Chada Hahn does a spin off, like a pre-series (or book) with how the SwordBrothers were betrayed by the king/ events leading up to it . Or even a book on the first generation of children post silver siren events.
I loved this series more than Unenchanted (and I love that series too). I am sad that there are no more Iron Butterfly books comeing out, but I am glad she wrapped everything up well with this final book.

SPOILER ALERT...not giving everything away, but I do mention some big parts of the story in the next paragraph.

I love the interesting twist of the story being that the warring lands are actually two different species. The yin and yang of each other. It is good to see how she makes it clear that a person needs both the good and bad in order to be a complete person. Flaws are basically that at some points the story seemded rushed, especially the love aspect. I always knew she would pick Kael but her making the final decision seemed thrown at you when she was still "questioning" her feelings not a few pages prior. Still loved it.
Oh man I don't want to give any spoilers so I'll try to control myself. This book is absolutely amazing! It was predictable and unpredictable. It kept me guessing and trying to figure out what's happening. Chandra Hahn is an amazing writer who just keeps you reading and reading until the story is over. For anyone who haven't read the first books in the series you may be lost if you just read this book. I advise you to get the first books in the series before reading this one. You won't be disappointed thoes books are just as amazing and exciting as this one. Stop wasting time reading my review and go read the book! I'm telling you, you are definitely going to enjoy it!
I loved this book. The ending was just right and closed all the loose ends. I loved seeing Thalia finally overcome her victim mentality, and find the strength to be who she was destined to become. It was awesome.

I have read the other series by this author, which I adore, but hesitated to start this series due to some unfavorable reviews. I wish I had ignored those reviews and read this series sooner. I read a lot, and I have come across some really bad books. Some books are just bad and some are weighed down by editing needs. While this book did have some errors and a couple of typos, they were few and far between. Plus, when you are drawn into a story like I was, you barely notice them. I'm not really sure if maybe the bad reviewers had an older version, but do yourself a favor and give this whole series a shot!

I highly recommend this book. Start with book one though, The Iron Butterfly. Love your work Chanda, and am excited to start Underland!
First I should start that I read the book Underland by this same author and it was fantastic. Based on that I decided to try this series. Well the good first - the books in this series are cheap so if you buy all three you are only out $8. The start of the first book is intriguing and characters Thalia/Kael/Joss are interesting and you want to learn more about them.

The first book in the series is the best written (Iron Butterfly), the second (Steele Wolf) is okay and this one drops off as poor. The book is poorly written and jumps all over like a case of ADHD, the editor should be fired or at least the author should get some money back due to the number of grammatical errors and typos throughout the series which makes it distracting to read. The plot is poorly developed and the identity of the Raven was easy to guess back in the second book.

Lastly, (and I didn't check the dates mostly because I didn't want to waste any more of my time on these) it seems like a bad knock off of the Vampire Academy book series by Rachel Mead. I would recommend skipping this series lest you waste time and money only to feel cheated. (
