Falling Fading Volume 3 EK Blair 9780578133515 Books Reviews

It's safe to say; I LOVE E.K.!!!

"I see you in colors that don't exist." This quote made me do the ugly cry. When you get to it, you'll understand why.

I started reading this the day it published. I sped through the first half of this book like a Jamaican bobsled in the Winter Olympics clipping at record speed (for me). And then, I crashed. I put Ryan's story aside for over a week. I needed to brace myself for the end, for the retelling of that horrific night outside of Blur and the destruction it left. The emotions I experienced while reading Candace's story in Fading were more than I could bear. I had a book hangover for months. I knew that revisiting her story and hearing it from Ryan's POV was going to crush me all over again, and I wasn't prepared. I needed to be at my peak for the holidays, so, Ryan sat. He'd call to me every so often and I'd pick him up read a few pages, but with every turn of the page, my anxiety grew. I would literally slam the cover of my closed and shout, "No, I won't do this right now. I can't." (Good thing I was alone each time I did this, people would have valid reason to commit me!)

Well the holidays are over and so are my excuses of finishing. I bravely curled up in my 'reading' chair and dove back in. It didn't take long before the after affects of Candace's story took hold. With every word building the anticipation of what Ryan would say, how he would feel, I stirred in my emotion. I completely fell in love with Ryan in Fading and to say that love grew exponentially in Falling, is an understatement. Like for Candace, I wanted to reach in and tell him everything would be okay. I wanted to hug him every time he cried. And when he shared the story of his father when he was a child, I wept. No child should have to experience the type of hate that Ryan did, especially from one's parent. The bravery is took to defend his mother is one of nobility. This part of Ryan's story triggered my own repressed emotions regarding abuse. It catapulted me back in time to when I watched my own mother get beat.Thankfully, it wasn't at the hands of my father. I couldn't imagine the forever ingrained image that would have given me.

To know the hurt and pain that he felt when Candace left him left me reeling right along with him. Losing someone you love because of a lie hurts like no other pain. It forever fractures the once solid foundation. Forgiveness can be granted, however, the 'knowing' never goes away. It is a lingering question, one that may or may not have impact in the future. I'm so thankful that Candace came to her senses. That she sought the counseling she needed and came back to Ryan. Their relationship was full of wholes and once the two of them got out of the way long enough to fill those wholes, their fracture healed. YAY!!

The revealing of secrets is a sure fire way of bonding two people together. Watching how Candace's relationship with Donna blossoms through Ryan's eyes was a perfect glimmer into what it 'feels' like to see love. He cherished their relationship as much as Candace and Donna did. He knew the moment his mother fell in love with Candace, and vice versa. I believe, knowing the love that Donna had for Candace strengthened the love Ryan had for her as well. Through everything he experienced with his mother, he learned how it was like to fight for your life. And because of this, he fought for Candace. Sometimes it was the 'in-your-face' kind of fight, and other times it was the 'stepping-back and giving-space' kind of fight.

My heart broke for Donna. The strength she had to have had to endure what she did astounds me. I'm not sure I would have survived and if I had; I'm not sure I would have been capable of any kind of love. Thank you for making her strong. Thank you for giving your fans a 'behind-the-scenes' look into her and her life.

As I stated in my review for Fading..."E.K. penned a work of art." She has taken four fictional characters and brought them to life in a way that not too many people can. Her talent is truly God given. I'm thankful to have stumbled upon Fading because with the continuation of Freeing, and now finale that is Falling; I am truly changed. Books are a way to escape from the harsh realities of life, but sometimes they help us face those harsh realities and make us stronger. That has happened with this series for me!! Thank you for listening to your husband. And thank you to your husband for seeing your talent and pushing you to share it with the masses and me (a forever fan).

This series is one that needs to be pushed to the top of your TBR list. Set aside three solid days and get it in!! Have lots of tissue (you'll need it), vino (for those that drink it), chocolate (for those that eat it), and your phone (because you'll want to share these books with your friends). Go...do it now!
Wow! Such a powerful read. This story was intense, heartbreaking, gripping, and beautiful. And I will say that Ryan Campbell's POV is just as profound as Candace's. This is the story of Fading, but through Ryan's eyes. While we are taken back to the events that take place in book one, we also get glimpses into Ryan's past, a dark and abusive past from his childhood.

"I wonder if the past still haunts her like it does me." ~ Ryan

I absolutely love Ryan Campbell. He really captured my heart from the beginning and I think I love him even more now after this book. He is handsome, smart, kind, and generous. He is also a family man, who is close to his mother, cousins, nieces and nephews. But being inside his mind also showed me his fears and vulnerability. Growing up with an abusive father makes him hesitant and wary to be in relationships, always thinking that he will become just like him. He has never committed to anyone, until Candace came into his life and it altered him completely. I loved watching Ryan slowly fall in love with Candace. He really opens himself up emotionally and gives in to his feelings. He gave her something truly special.

"I never gave my heart to anyone before. I never wanted to. I was scared. But maybe I was just saving it for her. And now, I want to give this girl more than my heart. I want to give her everything." ~ Ryan

Another thing I really found touching was the relationship between Ryan and his mother, Donna. His mother was his pillar of strength and I loved the close bond they shared. It was great to see all the wonderful supporting characters again. Even though this novel had it's dark moments there was a bit humor that I enjoyed, especially the scene where Ryan and Max are changing Bennett's diaper.. Priceless. The ending that E.K. gave this couple was perfect and the epilogue was even better.
This is a hard review for me. It was a beautifully tragic love story. The love scenes were tenderly romantic, just like their life together. RYAN was a very patient and forgiving man, Candace timid and shy. What I didn't like was her inability to fight for herself (after the tragedy), get angry, press charges, GET EVEN. I wanted to see her parents sorry. And I wanted to know why in hell would Donna put up with her husband, her life and not protect her son and he never asked her the hard questions. Also the story drug on for the first 40%. At times I wanted Ryan to just move on without her. And I couldn't understand why Candace didn't see Ryan for the hero he was instead of being so angry with him, but never the same emotion expressed for the deserving Jack.
Still it was a book I would recommend reading.
